Our Etsy Sales Report for October 2025 shows a marketplace that is growing, but not booming. Overall sales edged up compared to September, yet the picture is uneven across categories and countries. Some segments are accelerating into Q4, while others are already cooling off after their seasonal peaks. For sellers, this month is less about celebrating headline growth and more about understanding where demand is shifting and how to position for the holiday rush.

Sales on Etsy in comparison with previous months

Average daily sales on Etsy in October reached 1,148,942 sales, up from 1,129,597 in September. That translates to a 1.7% month-over-month increase. It is a solid but modest uplift, especially considering that October is the real start of the holiday build-up for many online marketplaces.

Looking at the last six months, the trend is clearer. After a high in May (1,136,784 average daily sales), Etsy dipped in June (1,059,007) and July (1,047,694), then recovered in August (1,123,617), September, and now October. The platform has consistently climbed for four consecutive months, but the slope is gentle rather than explosive. This suggests resilience, not hyper-growth.

For sellers, this matters because it sets realistic expectations for Q4. The market is not lifting all boats automatically. If your shop is flat or slightly down, it may not be “just Etsy.” Performance gaps now are increasingly driven by product–market fit, pricing, and execution rather than broad platform growth.

Sales on Etsy by category in October

On the growth side, Home & Living led the month with 6.2% growth, followed by Bags & Purses at 4.5% and Art & Collectibles at 4.1%. These are exactly the types of categories that benefit from early holiday shopping: décor, gifts, and personal accessories. The data shows buyers are starting to invest in their homes and gifting plans earlier in the season.

However, the categories driving the largest total volumes are slightly different. Craft Supplies & Tools remained the top category with 7,377,721 total sales, ahead of Home & Living with 6,793,859. Paper & Party Supplies (4,712,479) and Art & Collectibles (4,461,471) also contributed heavily. This pattern indicates that a significant share of Etsy buyers are makers, planners, and DIYers preparing their own products, events, and gifts.

At the same time, some traditionally strong categories declined. Jewelry fell 3.1% despite still generating 2,523,097 sales. Clothing dropped 1.2% and Accessories 0.2%, while Shoes plunged 5.5% from an already low base of 57,735 sales. The sharpest fall was in Weddings, down 11.2% to 805,942 sales, a typical post-summer seasonal cooldown. Sellers in these categories should not rely on category momentum alone; differentiation and strong holiday positioning are now essential.

For strategic planning, this means two things. First, categories linked to the home, creativity, and gifting (Home & Living, Craft Supplies, Art & Collectibles) are where organic demand is currently strongest. Second, if you operate in declining categories, you may still grow, but you will have to win share from competitors rather than ride overall category expansion.

Sales on Etsy by country in October

Geographically, Etsy remains heavily concentrated in the United States. The U.S. generated 19,721,934 total sales and an average of 636,191 orders per day. However, U.S. sales declined slightly by 0.6% compared to the previous month. This is a reminder that even the largest market is not guaranteed to grow each month, and domestic sellers face intense competition.

In contrast, several English-speaking markets accelerated. The United Kingdom recorded 4,732,125 sales and 152,649 average daily orders, with a strong 7.0% growth rate. Australia performed similarly well with 767,196 total sales and 7.2% growth. Canada added 1,314,645 sales and grew 2.5%. For sellers able to serve these regions, localized listings, pricing in local currencies, and tailored shipping options are increasingly worth the effort.

Among other key markets, Germany grew 3.6% to 1,423,004 sales, Turkey rose 2.9%, Ukraine 3.2%, and India a modest 0.9%. Meanwhile, China declined 2.8% to 486,580 sales and France fell 1.3% to 362,495. The message is clear: Etsy’s growth is not uniform across countries. Sellers who rely heavily on shrinking or stagnating markets should consider expanding international shipping, reviewing their translation and localization, and testing ad campaigns in faster-growing regions like the UK, Germany, and Australia.

Holidays

From a seasonal perspective, October sits at the front of the most important revenue window of the year. Halloween demand peaks late in the month but also fuels earlier purchases of costumes, décor, and party supplies. Immediately after, shoppers begin turning to Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the wider winter holiday season. Categories like Home & Living, Craft Supplies, Toys & Games, and Art & Collectibles are well positioned to benefit from gift buying and home preparation.

Looking ahead to November, December, and January, sellers should already be planning for Christmas and other winter holidays, followed by early-year events like New Year’s resolutions and organizational or home refresh trends. Inventory, production capacity, and shipping timelines need to be aligned with this calendar, not just with current demand. In a month where overall platform growth is steady but not spectacular, the sellers who will win Q4 on Etsy are those who anticipate demand, optimize listings and SEO now, and present clear value in crowded categories.
