Sales on Etsy in comparison with previous months
For the first time in months, we have some positive news to share in our sales report – Etsy sales are showing an increase compared to the previous month. After three consecutive months of slight declines, July’s sales have seen a modest rise, with a platform-wide increase of about 1.7%. While it may not be a significant surge, especially considering the 3 to 5% declines in previous months, it’s evident that this is more likely a seasonal trend rather than a genuine risk for the platform as a whole.
However, it’s essential to note that sales in July haven’t yet reached the levels seen at the beginning of the year. This month was on the weaker side for many sellers on the platform. Take a look at the Etsy sales chart for the past six months below.
Sales on Etsy by category in July
The data for different categories shows a much more positive picture compared to last month. Almost half of the categories are experiencing a modest increase in sales, ranging between 0.5% and 2.3% for the month.
The Craft Supplies & Tools and Toys & Games categories lead the way with the highest growth. While 8 categories show a decline in sales compared to June, the numbers are not a cause for concern. The declines are not as drastic as the 11% which we saw in June. Shoes (nearly 5%) and Clothing (just over 4%) experienced the largest declines. In most categories, the decline is negligible, amounting to less than 1%.

Sales on Etsy by country in July
The sales data for July is notably stronger than what we saw in June, providing some good news for the Etsy seller community. We’re seeing positive sales growth in 9 out of the top 10 countries with the most Etsy sellers.
Notably, the sellers in Germany experienced a significant uptick, with sales growth exceeding 10%. This is more than five times the average growth on the platform. It’s a strong rebound from the sales drop we observed in the previous months.
This growth doesn’t just highlight the resilience of the German sellers, but it also helps to even out their overall spring performance. It’s this kind of progress that we love to see in the seller community, and we hope it’s a sign of more good things to come.

Meanwhile, in China, there’s a hint of recovery. Following three consecutive months of sales decreases (7%, 8%, and 6% respectively), Chinese stores turned things around slightly with a modest growth of around 3% in July compared to June.
