Each month we will be publishing on the Koalanda blog a brief report on the Etsy sales of the preceding month. Here is the report for June 2025.

Sales on Etsy in comparison with previous months
It’s summer—and in many parts of the world, things are heating up. Unfortunately, Etsy isn’t one of them. Sales in June fell by 6.8% compared to May, marking not only a noticeable drop but also the largest monthly decline so far this year. In fact, June currently holds the lowest sales volume of any month in 2025.

That might sound discouraging, especially for sellers who rely on our reports to gauge whether it’s time to consider alternative platforms. But before hitting the panic button, it’s worth putting things into perspective. While the numbers aren’t ideal, they’re not unprecedented—in fact, we saw a similar dip in June 2024, with sales dropping just over 5%. This suggests that what we’re seeing may be more of a seasonal pattern than a long-term concern.

Summer has never been Etsy’s strongest season, and that likely explains much of the slowdown. The months ahead could bring more stability—or even a slight rebound in sales. Still, we’re also watching with some concern the ongoing developments around U.S. tariff policy, which could have a serious impact on many sellers if changes take effect.
Sales on Etsy by category in June
Unlike last month, this time the negative trend is reflected across all categories. In June, every one of Etsy’s 15 main categories saw a decline in sales compared to the previous month.

The smallest drop—less than 2%—was in Toys & Games, one of Etsy’s smallest categories. Other categories with declines below the platform average include Electronics & Accessories (down 2.7%), Accessories (3.5%), Pet Supplies (3.6%), Craft Supplies & Tools (4.4%), and Art & Collectibles (4.7%). However, in some categories, the decline was much more noticeable—close to 10%—particularly in Paper & Party Supplies, Jewelry, and Home & Living.

Even Weddings, a category that had seen steady growth for several consecutive months, wasn’t spared. In June, that upward trend came to a halt, with sales dropping by approximately 7.5%.

When we look at sales by country, we almost always see major differences—and this month is no exception. U.S. shops recorded a nearly 10% drop in sales, marking a significant dip.

The sales chart for the past three months clearly shows how differently trends have played out for shops in the U.S. and the UK. The largest drop in this period occurred in April, when UK shops saw a steep decline of over 12.5%.

In contrast, the past two months have looked much more promising for France, which has now overtaken Chinese shops in monthly sales volume, as shown on the chart.

Germany, however, recorded the biggest drop among the top 10 countries this month—nearly 11%. At this pace, Canadian shops may soon surpass German ones in monthly sales. We’ll be watching closely to see if that shift happens next month.

Holidays
August doesn’t bring any major holidays in most key Etsy markets, which means we’re not expecting any holiday-driven spikes in traffic or sales. However, the slower pace of the month can be a good thing. It’s the perfect time to take a short break, recharge, or finally tackle those behind-the-scenes tasks you’ve been putting off. Many sellers also use this quieter period to start planning and designing their fall collections, getting ahead before the busy season kicks in. With back-to-school, Halloween, and the holiday shopping rush just around the corner, August is a great time to prepare while things are still calm.
